The Osteomyelitis Center of Central Florida - The Treatment of the Lower Leg
The Osteomyelitis Center of Central Florida - Treatment of the Lower Leg focuses on the treatment and preservation of bone infections only of the lower leg, ankle, and foot. This center is a private clinic at my office founded by myself. Initially you will be seen and evaluated in my private clinic. Please contact the office at 863-646-5960 for an appointment and forward your clinical information to [email protected] or by mail prior to your first visit after reviewing the " Patients - In Preparation Of Your Office Visit/Consultation" at the website: www.osteomyelitiscenter.com. Please understand we are not a referral service. If you have a bone infection of the lower leg, ankle, or foot you need to be seen in our clinic to help you.
Typically from that clinic evaluation, if appropriate, you will be scheduled for surgery to address your bone infection. I can not stress enough that to provide you a smooth evaluation and transition to possible resolution it is extremely important to review and follow the instructions at the left tab entitled " Patients - In Preparation Of Your Office Visit/Consultation".
A thorough evaluation providing a collective, advanced, and effective treatment plan for your bone infection. It is within this environment that the patient will experience a team approach to the treatment of their bone infection. You will be evaluated for other factors that negatively impact healing and will provide the support needed during the healing process to allow the patient to heal and return to family, hobbies, and work. Thus there may be other factors such as lower extremity circulation, tobacco use, diabetes, or compliance.
The History of the Center, Research, and Outcomes - What It Means to you.
The following is summery of the work done for the Percutaneous Antibiotic Delivery Technique (PAD-T). This technique was the first such technique in treating ostemyelitis not only within the United States but globally. My experience with osteomyelitis will allow me to provide the highest level of care for your lower extremity bone infection. I am here to help you.
Dr. Jeffrey C Karr is the founder and director of The Osteomyelitis Center of Central Florida - Treatment of the Lower Leg. The Percutaneous Antibiotic Delivery Technique (PAD-T) is the first such percutaneous delivery technique for treating ostemyelitis not only within the United States but globally.
The PAD-T was invented, developed, and successfully used by Dr. Jeffrey C. Karr in 2009 as a means to deliver antibiotics percutaneously with a flowable bone void filler carrier into an area of bone infection allowing complete bone penetration and contact with the adherent bone surface bacteria/biofilm obtaining significant drug elusion and drug levels in the area of bone infection. The PAD-T involves a small percutaneous skin incision followed by a small bone cortex incision into the infected bone. This technique avoids a more invasive, some times multiple bone surgeries, such as placing and removing non-absorbable antibiotic beads. The PAD-T minimizes time away from work, does not require external fixation, and generally requires no change in weight bearing status. Irrigation and spongiosum bone cultures can be done through the bone cortex incision.
